The 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 delivered another unforgettable chapter in the history of Australia’s Great Race, with Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood claiming a remarkable last-lap victory aboard the #17 Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang GT. Starting from second on the grid, Kostecki and Hazelwood established themselves as the dominant combination throughout much of the 161-lap contest at Mount Panorama. The pair controlled the race for extended periods, building a commanding lead of over 20 seconds before a lengthy penultimate pit stop, caused by a delayed right-front brake change, threatened to derail their hopes of victory. Rejoining almost 30 seconds behind the leader, Kostecki faced an enormous challenge to recover the lost ground. However, a strategic advantage gained through the extended stop allowed the team to delay its final fuel stop until lap 150, setting up a thrilling charge to the finish. Returning to the circuit in fourth position, 18 seconds off the lead, Kostecki immediately went on the attack, twice breaking the lap record as he rapidly closed the gap to the cars ahead.
